Bright and cheerful vintage inspired wedding

10At the end of August we created some flowers for an amazing bride called Heather who is pictured above having her make up done, whilst modeling the comb of flowers we created for her hair.

The bridesmaids each carried ‘just picked’ look, mixed hand-tied bouquets of home-grown English flowers.

Heather married the love of her life Matt, with a civil ceremony at beautiful Heskin Hall in Eccleston, Lancashire. For the ceremony / signing  of the registrar table, Heather sourced these two rather hansom looking swans, which we filled with brightly coloured, home-grown flowers.

29For the wedding breakfast the couple had decided on afternoon tea, so their flowers couldn’t take up to much room on the tables. Heather hunted high and low in charity shops and online for the vintage vases shown below, which will filled with bright and cheerful informal hand-tied arrangements.

On the top table we had blue glasses and tea cups filled with flowers, the giraffe in the picture below was one of the place-name holders. Everybody had their own gold animal – such a fabulously, unique idea!

After the wedding Heather sent me an email she wrote  “We got married on August 23rd and you did our beautiful flowers. The flowers really where one of the most important things to me and I think you did an amazing job, they really brought Heskin Hall to life. Thank you so much to you and your team for doing such a wonderful job. I loved the swans!! “

Beautiful New Wedding Books

I love collecting books on weddings, my excuse is that I buy them to inspire brides who come to see me regarding their wedding flowers, but secretly I just want to get married again. Still to my existing husband!

There are 2 new books on the market that I would highly recommend to anyone planing a wedding. They are Style Me Vintage by Annabel Beeforth and The New-Fashioned Wedding by Paige Appel and Kelly Harris. Both are beautiful hardback books, and contain lots of inspirational wedding ideas. Winter Wedding

Today I have done a wedding at the beautiful West Tower Country House Hotel in Aughton, Lancashire. Unfortunately I don’t have any home grown flowers available at this time of year, so I have had to buy in all the flowers, although most of the foliage did came from the farm. It is quite nice though, to every now and then, get a chance to work with Orchids and Calla Lilies.ImageImage
